FIREBIRD / FIELD NOTES
Weekly reflection prompts that lead to a next step
Four short prompts to look back on the week and choose what to do next. Write, talk, or start with a page from your notebook.
Reflect: what actually happened?
Look at your calendar, notes, or check-ins. Name one day that felt good and one that felt difficult. Write what happened before interpreting it. “I went outside before opening my laptop” is more useful than “I was productive.” You don’t need to rate every part of your life.
Remove: what was in the way?
Choose one source of friction you can change. Perhaps your plan depended on an empty evening that never arrived, or your phone was always within reach. Avoid turning a reflection into a list of personal failures. Removing an obstacle can mean making an action smaller, changing the time, or asking for help.
Reveal: what is worth repeating?
Find one input that seemed to help: a conversation, a quiet hour, preparing lunch, a walk. Treat a pattern as a possibility to explore, not proof of cause and effect. One good day after one new action doesn’t establish a rule about how your life works.
Rise: what will you do next?
Finish with one action and a time. “I’ll write for ten minutes after breakfast on Tuesday” is a next step. “I’ll be more creative” is a direction. If it helps, invite someone to try the same week with you. If not, keep it private.
Keep the reflection yours
Three sentences can be enough. Voice notes and imperfect handwriting count too. In FIREBIRD you can write or record a journal entry in the iOS app, or photograph a page and edit its transcription before saving. Text-file imports support UTF-8 .txt and .md files under 1 MB. Review anything transcribed before treating it as your record.
